About the Contributors\Foreword by Mary McClintock Fulkerson\Preface: Blurring Boundaries\ Part One: Prolegomena\1. The victories of democracy in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries were triumphs of an alliance of merchants and workers over the aristocrats who defended their position behind the bulwarks of feudalism and monarchy. The relatively simple formulations of traditional Christian sexual ethics can no longer be maintained, for they seem to rely on a vastly over-simplified view of human sexual life and of relationships.

It reaches into the realm of judging what kind of life is worth living.14 Opponents to physicians becoming killers argue on the basis of the traditional aim of medicine and the responsibilities proper to the physician's social role. So in comparison to most of the folk I worshipped with, yes, I dressed beautifully. What is “the question of the hour,” the question that is filling minds with painful apprehension? This dignity is not merited; it is not destroyed by sin; it cannot be diminished by any quality that can otherwise distinguish us from others.

Options in Contemporary Christian Ethics. Grand Rapids: Baker, 1981. The foundation of a property ethic which can sustain us and not destroy us is the acknowledgement of all that we have as gift. They were printed in the 1980's and are unused, but shelf-worn and yellowed. Christians ethics, that is the moral principles that govern how you live, are based on God’s word as found in the Bible. I’m keen to interact with any student of whatever persuasion to help them more fully integrate their own ideas, beliefs, and intuitions.

By contrast, a categorical imperative simply mandates an action, irrespective of one's personal desires, such as "You ought to do X." When, for instance, liberal Christianity defines the doctrine of non-resistance, so that it becomes merely an injunction against violence in conflict, it ceases to provide a perspective from which the sinful element in all resistance, conflict, and coercion may be discovered.

As a result of these differences, some contemporary Catholic moral theologians are calling into question some official Catholic teachings in such areas as sexual and medical ethics, but the official teaching office has not changed on these issues. The fast path involves transcending dualities and conventional distinctions, including that between good and evil, thus exhibiting certain Mahāyāna impulses to downplay the value of renunciation and preceptive discipline in favor of seeking direct realization.

Putting On the New Self: An Introducton to Christian Ethics Currently I am working on a series of articles on Christian ethics with a focus on moral epistemology from, yes, a Reformed Van Tilian perspective.
